Stinkwater! is a unique weekend filmmaking challenge, happening annually in Randwick, Sydney, Australia.
YOU HAVE 30 HOURS TO MAKE A 3 MINUTE FILM!
GULP! This is a great and satisfying challenge. Anyone can become a filmmaker and see their work on the BIG SCREEN if you’ve got the guts! And plenty of people have, just look through this website. Once a year (September ususally) we challenge Sydney filmmakers to come to Randwick and flex their creative muscles.

FESTIVAL KICK-OFF!
6PM: Festival Brief is released!
This will contain a specific item, a phrase and a set of locations in Randwick, of which you will need to include a certain number. Join us at the launch space in person and you will also meet the Festival Actors in person and book them on the spot. First come first served!
AND SO IT BEGINS!
Get filming straight away or start planning, we recommend you use this first night wisely!

Showtime CELEBRATION!
6PM: Finalist screenings begin! See if you made it to the TOP16
7.30PM: The Audience Award Voting starts, also time to fill your glasses.
8PM: Awards Gala Ceremony begins – See who won the Festival Awards and the $1000 Grand Prize! It could be you!!

WHAT IS THE FESTIVAL BRIEF?*
The Brief will be a set of around 20 elements (PLACES, ITEMS & DIALOGUE).
You will need to include a certain number of them in your film entry to qualify for the competition.
The exact contents changes year by year.
This is primarily to prove the film has been made for this festival and in the area and not recycled.
Festival Actors, if used, count as at least one location each year
When entries are completed and lodged, you will need to identify the items used as part of the submission process.

These are teams including members under 16, registered as a Family Team. The Family Team film can also win Best Film.

Here is our suggested action plan for entry:
- Register your team ASAP HERE
- Start pre-production immediately! – What ideas can you come up with?
- OR… Be inspired by the Brief. A little riskier perhaps but also even more of a challenge!
- Watch some of our training videos to get you in the mood 😁
- When you do have an idea, put together a shotlist of some sort. It helps make sure you don’t miss anything
